Rhodia has developed a comprehensive range of very fine-particle
dispersions which, due to their high penetration and binding power,
provide the formulations in which they are incorporated with enhanced
performances when compared to products already available on market.

Rhodopas and Rhoximat Ultrafine latex dispersions provide an innovative
and effective solution for low porosity surface primer applications
provide an innovative and effective solution for low porosity surfaces
(Rhoximat Ultrafine) or formulation of both primer / sealer coatings and
specialty paints (Rhoximat Ultrafine).

Rhodopas and Rhoximat Ultrafine PR3000, pr 3500 and PR4000 have been
developed in Rhodia’s application laboratories in close collaboration
with paint and building materials manufactures. The various Rhodopas and
Rhoximat Ultrafine glades such have specific characteristics and
properties, determining the performances levels suited to the type of
system and application conditions in which they are used.

These products are high performance water based systems, thus enabling
greater respect for the environment. The advantages of Rhodopas and
Rhoximat Ultrafine in primer / scalar applications are:
|
|
|
|
Hygiene
/ environment: solvent-free, non-toxic, Processing: rheology close to that
of a solution, Outstanding penetration into porous substrates, High
binding power: consolidates substrates, Outstanding adhesion, Barrier to
sale migration
|
|
|
|
Rhodopas Ultrafine dispersions should preferably be used at
15-20% solid cement, at which level they are not modified by formulation.
They can however be formulated like conventional dispersions. Performances
vary as a function of the pigment concentration by volume (PVC).

|
|
|
The
presence of a thickening agent (viscosity: 600-800 MPa.) makes it easier
to add biocides, thickeners, etc at a later stage. Adjusting the
penetration / consolidation / adhesion balance to be optimized. Applying
Rhodopas Ultrafines PR 3000, PR 3500 and PR 4000 to various substrate
gives better results than the conventional solutions. The required balance
of properties varies according to the substrate.
|
|
|
|
The very small particle size of Rhoximat Ultrafine gives remarkable
characteristics in terms of penetration and adhesive or as a screed
undercoat. Rhoximat Ultrafine PR3000 and 3500 are especially adapted for
use as consolidation primers on very low porosity substrates and as an
anti efforscence product. Rhoximat UltrafinePR 4000 is a "
multipurpose " product, recommended as an adhesive and consolidation
primer on all substrates.
