Useful tips about Well management

Wells will improve only if you draw water from the well regularly. It is a famous Tamil saying. This is true. Even if you do not require, pump water at least for 15-20 minutes daily from the well. This will increase the inflow into the well.

Do not add bleaching powder to the well as it kills both the pathogens and the beneficial bacteria. The beneficial bacteria eat the organic matter and there by prevent the bad odour and taste.

Cover the wells with a mesh to prevent the dirt and the leaves get into the well.

Do not remove the sludge during the summer. When the water levels are high, pump out the water and clear the sludge. If you clear the sludge during the summer month, the clogging of the pores takes place and prevents the inflow.
